Pray and Walk Away with fruit. (Fruits of the Spirit)
What is the fruit of the Spirit? Before we talk about spiritual fruit, let’s talk about natural fruit. Fruit that is natural is sweet and has seeds in them. Examples are apples, oranges, cherries, melons, grapes, etc. Fruit comes from trees or vines. Fruit is good for you. Fruit has vitamins and fiber. Fruit contains nutrients that your body needs to be healthy. They are natural desserts as my mother told me.
During the pandemic, I planted melon. Melon grows on a vine like other fruits such as grapes and some tomatoes. Vines grow fruit and produce much fruit when the vine is healthy. My garden had a small space and before I knew it, the melons were growing everywhere. Unfortunately, the rats ate many of my melons but that is another message for later.
Spiritual fruit as stated in Galatians 5:22-23 is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, faith, meekness, and temperance! Just like natural fruit, you need the fruit of the spirit to be healthy.
In John 15:1-5, the Word talks about Jesus is the true vine. When you abide in Jesus, you bear much fruit. What does abide mean? Await, remain, lodge, dwell, continue or endure. When you pray, you are abiding in God. He is pruning you so that you can produce much fruit. Fruit has seeds. You can plant the seeds and grow another vine and multiply your fruit.
God wants us to love. Love is an action verb. It is not passive. There are some good nuggets in Galatians 5.
Faith which works by love avails.
By love, serve one another.
“For all of the law is fulfilled in one word.” What is that one word? LOVE!!! “Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself.”
Fruit in the natural can include blessings and helping others to be blessed. Love conquers all. When we do not pray we are handling things on our own and without God and without the fruit of the spirit. This is when things can go sideways. Prayer will keep us on track, stay with the vine which bears fruit. Pray and walk away with fruit! #prayandwalkaway
