 Dr. Tonya Johnson McKinney is an ordained evangelist, intercessor, educator, entrepreneur, author, and founder of Pray and Walk Away Global Ministries, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to advancing prayer, revival, evangelism, and discipleship around the world. Her passion is to equip believers to develop a lifestyle of prayer, hear God’s voice, and walk confidently in faith and obedience.

Dr. McKinney’s ministry journey began with her first international mission trip to Costa Rica alongside Evangelist Tim Storey. Since then, God has opened doors for ministry in Ghana, Prayer Mountain in South Korea, and other nations, where she has shared the Gospel, prayed with individuals and communities, and encouraged believers to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. Through Pray and Walk Away Global Ministries, she has distributed thousands of Pray and Walk Away prayer wristbands in multiple languages as evangelistic tools, inspiring people around the world to pray, trust God, and walk forward in faith.

She is the author of the Pray and Walk Away Interactive Workbook, a practical resource designed to help believers strengthen their prayer life and grow in spiritual authority. Dr. McKinney also hosts the Pray and Walk Away Podcast, leads the Pray and Walk Away Prayer Book Club, facilitates a Young Adult Bible Study, and organizes prayer summits that bring believers together for worship, intercession, and spiritual renewal. She is also a contributor to InfluencHer Magazine, where she writes faith-based articles that encourage spiritual growth and purposeful living.

Dr. McKinney received ministry training through Layman’s Ministry at Word of Faith International Christian Center under Bishop Keith A. Butler and is a graduate of the Legacy Level of the Morris Cerullo School of Ministry. In recognition of her humanitarian service and global ministry impact, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Humanity from United Graduate College and Seminary International (UGCSI) and is a member of IChange Nations, an organization dedicated to cultivating cultures of honor and recognizing leaders who positively impact society.

In addition to her ministry calling, Dr. McKinney has faithfully served in music ministry for more than two decades. She has ministered with Fellowship Chapel, Word of Faith International Christian Center, Grace Is Sufficient Ministries, Aaron Arrington & FB Chorale, Torin Derek & Friendz, and the Donald Lawrence Music & Arts Global Mass Choir, participating in the recording of the choir’s debut album, Global Love Alive (London). She was also honored to sing during the televised Stellar Awards alongside gospel music legend Shirley Caesar, reflecting her passion for leading others into God’s presence through worship.

Professionally, Dr. McKinney has dedicated more than 30 years to education as a business teacher, mentoring students in Detroit and Las Vegas. She earned National Board Certification in Career and Technical Education (Business Education) and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts in Educational Technology from Central Michigan University. She has served as a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) advisor for more than 20 years and currently serves as a Bible Club advisor, helping students develop both academic excellence and biblical values.

As a survivor of domestic violence and trauma, Dr. McKinney has a heart for helping others experience God’s healing, restoration, and hope. Whether speaking at conferences, leading prayer gatherings, mentoring emerging leaders, or serving communities around the world, her mission remains the same: to inspire people to pray with confidence, trust God completely, and walk away in faith, knowing that He is always at work.
