Pray and Praise

Bless the Lord at all times and His praise shall continually be in my mouth! Psalm 34:1

I obviously believe deeply in prayer. However, you can’t expect to truly be blessed and have your prayers answered and not praise the person, God, who is going to answer your prayers. Before God taught me how to pray and be an intercessor, I was taught how to praise the Lord. As of 2025, I have been in a choir or praise team for over 20 years.

Prayer is communication with God. Praise is a form of prayer. You are communicating with God.  You are expressing the greatness of God. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. He wakes you up. He protects you. He gave you the Holy Spirit and Jesus. He saved you. He healed you. He delivered you. He fed you. Think about the things that He has done in the past, what He is doing now, what He is going to do in the future. Remember the things that He got you out of! When you think about the things that He has done, you have to praise Him.

Jesse Duplantis explained it like this: If your child was asking for something, and the child just didn’t say anything, or the child just clapped and said nothing, or the child sang praises about how great her father was. What would move you more? Of  course when the child was praising her father. It is the same in the Spirit. One of the things that moves God is heartfelt praise. You can praise God and get in the heavenlies. I have had instances when I praised God so much that I felt like I had gone to heaven. When you praise God, you go to another level in the spiritual realm. I have been stuck. I prayed and fasted then when I started to praise God, really praise God, it broke.

In Acts 16, Paul and Silas were in prison and they praised God and the chains were released and the doors were opened. Some people may not be in a physical prison but emotionally, spiritually, or mentally, they are in a prison, or a stronghold, where they are not able to move freely. If you praise God and continue to praise God, you will be released. Sometimes when I have really been bound, I just put on praise music, 24/7. The devil can’t stand the sound of praise. The enemy will flee when you praise God. God will move when you praise Him.
